What to expect

A full day of nature, and no need to worry about finding parking

Where to start

If you haven’t booked yet, now’s the time. This fun trip away from the city is an ActiveDays event put on by Parkbus, who are experts at getting locals out into nature near the city. Buses leave from two Toronto locations (see the booking site for the one nearest you). After a short bus ride north, we’ll arrive at your scenic spot for the day: Awenda Provincial Park on the shores of Georgian Bay.

Once you’re there

Feel like exploring? Join us on a guided 2–3 hour hike or wander off to find your own trails. Wherever you end up, make sure your phone is handy since the forest will be starting its shift into fall colours.

Post-hike, we’ll descend from the forest to the water for an afternoon of swimming and scoping out Awenda’s four beaches. BYOB (that’s bathing suit) and a towel to take advantage of the sandy shorelines. We’ll leave Awenda in the late afternoon and be back in the city in time for dinner.

What to bring

We’ll supply a map, info on some of the geology of the area, a scavenger hunt and a guide for a hike (optional, of course). To be ready for the day, please pack:

  • Lunch (nut-free, please!)
  • Good walking shoes or hiking boots
  • 2L of water
  • Camera
  • Sunscreen and hat
  • Rain jacket
  • Any medications you need
  • And whatever else you need to have fun on the trail

What to expect with ActiveDays

ActiveDays is a way to meet new people, share stories and have fun. We want to meet you where you’re at – explore solo or join us as a group on this trip. To us, there’s no better place to get to know someone than the outdoors. This inclusive community is a chance to get outside and enjoy it in your own way. We hope to see you there!
