7 ways to camp and hike responsibly
Find out how to keep the outdoors awesome from our Leave No Trace expert.
Where to start
If you haven’t booked yet, now’s the time. This fun trip away from the city is an ActiveDays event put on by Parkbus, who are experts at getting locals out into nature near the city. Buses leave from two Toronto locations (see the booking site for the one nearest you). After a short bus ride north, we’ll arrive at your scenic spot for the day: Mono Cliffs Provincial Park.
Once you’re there
Feel like exploring? Join us on a guided 4-hour hike or wander off to find your own trails. The network of trails here can be linked to extend or shorten the hike. Rolling hills, neat rock formations and escarpment cliffs (some of which are up to 30m high) give you an escape from the city, along with lots of photo-worthy scenery.
After a few hours of walking or relaxing in the park, we’ll get back on the bus and be back in the city in time for dinner.
What to bring
We’ll supply a map, info on some of the geology of the area and a guide for a hike (optional, of course). To be ready for the day, please pack:
What to expect with ActiveDays
ActiveDays is a way to meet new people, share stories and have fun. We want to meet you where you’re at – explore solo or join us as a group on this trip. To us, there’s no better place to get to know someone than the outdoors. This inclusive community is a chance to get outside and enjoy it in your own way. We hope to see you there!
Can’t make it for this event?
If you can’t make it for this ActiveDays event, check out a DIY guide to exploring Mono Cliffs Provincial Park. Or join other ActiveDays events: a day trip to Awenda Provincial Park (Saturday, Sept 23) or the Dundas Valley waterfall hike (Saturday, Oct 14).
