Road, trail or truck: climb on
There are several ways to access the trails on Moose Mountain, but starting at the bottom of Moose Mountain Road is the simplest. One of the best parts about riding here is you can climb singletrack trail if you’re looking for a challenge, climb the road if you’re after an easier route, or shuttle to the top in a vehicle.
“Lemmy” at ‘em
A true intermediate descent, Race of Spades is a trail that gives you a great variety in trail features over a long descent. A name play on the popular song Ace of Spades, there are some optional jumps and features on this trail that are nearly as aggressive as the volume at a Motörhead concert.
Super happy awesome fun trail
S.H.A.F.T. (the “Super Happy Awesome Fun Trail”) is aptly named and makes an excellent warm-up descent for riders of all skill levels. An amazing amount of work went into building this trail, and even more has been put in to keep it going. Take note of the fallen tree blowdown from winter storms, and the immense reroute and trail work from the damage caused from Alberta’s 2013 floods. High-five to the trail builders!
An old classic
Looking for something a little wilder? SLF is an old classic that’s seen updates, reroutes and considerable attention over the years. There are steep fall line sections, jumps and stunts, and finishes on a rock roll that’s sure to make your heart skip a beat. Ultimately though, it’s another great descent at Moose Mountain.
