Make the most of North York’s trails

Your run starts here

For an easy landmark to remember, start your run at RioCan Marketplace at the corner of Dufferin and Steeles. Run south into G. Ross Lord Park and follow the creek past the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies. Along the way, look out for patches of wildflowers and local wildlife along the way. The parks of north Toronto are known for lots of bird species, so keep your eyes peeled during migration season.

Cross through Newtonbrook Park

Continue west along the small green arm of the Finch Hydro Corridor until you cross Yonge Street and Willowdale Avenue and hit Newtonbrook Park. Here, you’ll encounter the east branch of the Don River – follow it east until Bayview Avenue.

Park hop to Bestview and Garner

Once you’ve crossed Bayview Avenue, follow the river north into the wooded Bestview Park – this is an especially nice place to run in fall because its well-maintained dirt paths become covered in fiery red and burnt orange leaves. From there, head west into Garnier Park.

Treat yourself post-run

After running approximately 15km, you’ve definitely earned a treat from Red Rose Patisserie, one of Toronto’s most beloved bakeries. The only problem might be choosing from their huge selection after you’ve worked up your appetite. Try pairing a Turkish coffee with a cream puff or the popular Napolean Cake.
